Woodturning 101 — Introduction to Woodturning
Learn about the fastest growing craft activity in the USA. Learn about wood lathe operation, tools, and safest turning techniques. Class includes extensive written materials, fun turning activities of increasing complexity and projects to take home. Skill Level: Beginning. Prerequisite: willingness to learn something new and fun. Textbook: A Lesson Plan for Woodturning, sold in class $20. No class 9/25. (7 weeks)

Woodturning 201 — Basic Bowl Turning
The next step in woodturning is learning about new tools and techniques used to turn wooden bowls. Discussion will include information on good design and multiple techniques for mounting and turning. Textbook: A Lesson Plan for Woodturning, sold in class $20. Prerequisite: Woodturning — 101 or Instructor approval.

Similar to above class however, we will rough turn 12”-14” blanks from green wood and then proceed to core 2-3 bowls from the inside. Prerequisites: Woodturning 201 and 301.

Woodturning — Creating a Decorated Platter
Learn to design a platter and add decorative embellishments to it to enhance its appearance. Embellishments may include, burning, carving, color or other selected techniques. (3 weeks)

Woodturning — Advanced Bottle Stoppers and Coasters
You have learned how to turn a basic bottle stopper in the 101 course. How about taking it to the next level by learning advanced techniques that include: utilizing natural edged blanks; using threaded inserts; creating a non-traditional stopper utilizing a “T-Top Bottle Stopper”; and turning bottle coasters that match your stoppers. Stoppers and coasters are very practical and make great gifts. Students will learn steps from beginning to end and will leave class with several stoppers and coasters. Prerequisites: Woodturning 101 or Instructor approval. (4 weeks)

Woodturning — Transitional Segmented Vessel
Turning a transitional vessel includes two-part hollow vessel construction, making a segment ring, splitting it into additional rings, and assembling and turning a hollow vessel including this ring. 2 each 1x8 faceplates are required. Completion with top boast finish will not be done in class. Prerequisite: Woodturning 101 or Instructor approval. (4 weeks)

Woodturning — Introduction to Lidded Boxes
Learn to make a lidded box. Learn basic shaping, end-grain hollowing, fitting of the lid, and how to make and use a jam chuck. Textbook: A Lesson Plan for Woodturning; sold in class $20. These are times for independent work – and are a staple of our turning program. Come and work with expert coaches. Our vast selection of tools and accessories will allow you to undertake most project opportunities. Pay for only the session you attend. Prerequisite: Completion of Woodturning 101 and Woodturning 201, or current enrollment in either or Instructor approval
