Woodturning - Evaluating Shapes & Forms
The first session will focus on elements of good design based on historical perspectives. The course will present historical trends of successful forms and derive a set of guidelines that the wood turner may find useful in planning and evaluating their work. The second session will focus on participant evaluations of photos of works the students submit and also forms located from the Web. Students will assess, evaluate, and discuss potential corrections that might apply. Photos must be submitted to Jim Rodgers one week before the second session to be considered for analysis. Woodturning - Segmented Turning Basics
This is an introductory course for individual interest in undertaking segmented woodturning. The techniques, tools and processes will be presented in the first session. Techniques addressing the technique of open segment turning will be presented during the second session. Comment, questions, and discussion will be encouraged. (2 sessions)
